If you are longing to look better in your cute jeans and having trouble meeting that goal, you might be surprised at the technology that is available to you. There are NEW techniques in liposculpture that offer a gentler, kinder and absolutely safer technique for removing unwanted fat. If this sounds like something you may be interested in, call us to discuss how Tumescent liposculpture assisted by Lipolite laser lipolysis can work for you.
This technique has three important parts:
Step 1: Tumescent fluid is used to bathe the areas to be treated. Tumescent fluid is a very dilute mixture of saline with lidocaine (an anesthetic) and epinephrine (to close off the blood vessels around fat cells). This important step adds additional time and effort on the surgeon’s part but is well worth it for the patients. The use of tumescent anesthetic minimizes bleeding during the procedure making it so much safer. It also decreases bruising and leads to shorter recovery time.
Step 2: Liposculpture is performed with the use of very small “cannulas” or metal tubes. These tubes are as small as the tip on a pen, which is a major advance in technology. They are connected to a suction tube to pull the fat out. Because they are so small, we no longer have to make large openings to do the procedure, so, the scars left are very small. So small, in fact, that they do not even require stitches. This allows us to deliver amazingly precise sculpting minimizing the risk for irregularities (lumpiness) and allows for more smooth results. It also ensures less trauma during the procedure which leads to less bruising and faster recovery.
Step 3: “Lipolite” laser lipolysis – is the latest in laser lipolysis (like Smart Lipo). With Lipolite, a special tiny cannula with a laser tip is inserted in the openings made for liposculpture and the areas are heated using the laser. This provides more coagulation so there is less bleeding, less bruising, faster recovery. Another important advantage is that heating the skin during liposculpture will allow for better skin contraction. For older patients at risk for loose skin after lipo, Lipolite is a major advance.

Acne is not just a problem for teenagers; it can affect people from ages 10 through 40. It is not unusual for women, in particular, to develop acne in their mid- to late-20s, even if they have never had a breakout. Acne can cause a lot of trouble with self-esteem for those with severe cases. It can appear on the skin as any of the following, wherever there are oily (sebaceous) glands, mainly on the face, chest, and back:
- Congested pores
For severe acne, we treat our patients with Photodynamic Therapy. The process includes washing the face with acetone. Then a light microdermabrasion is performed. We apply the Levulan (which is activated by the laser light) to the area being treated and it is left on for about 30 minutes. Then the levulan is washed off and laser treatment follows.
Levulan is a 20% solution of ALA (Aminolevulonic Acid is natural substance found throughout our body). The Levulan targets active acne cells and is absorbed by the sebaceous glands. Once the levulan is activated by the laser’s light the skins oiliness decreases. The appearance of pores is minimized, and the entire skin texture improves.
See this video from San Diego Living with Cassandra’s story how we helped her improve her self-esteem and allowed her to wear her hair up, off her face, for the first time. She had a dramatic improvement after just one treatment! We helped her and we can help you too. Contact Scripps Ranch Dermatology & Cosmetic Center to learn more.
Nothing can be hotter than beautiful lips! And we can help you achieve the look you want with natural looking, youthful appearing, volume. I tell my patients that the women with lips that you can point out and say “she had hers done” are the unfortunate victims of poor work by the physician. When administered artfully and skillfully, these fillers will give beautifully, and perfectly done lips which will blend in with your face and just enhance your overall beauty – not change the way you look. Most of the time no one will be able to really tell you had your lips done…but be prepared for compliments like “You look good” or “You look younger” because nothing rejuvenates the face more than the great lips!
If you are looking for significant results that will last 6-9 months (or longer if you are one of those lucky ones) injectable fillers like Restylane or Juvederm is the way to go. Also if you have those pesky smoker’s lines, or more advance wrinkling of the lips, forget the topical lip plumpers, the injectable fillers can dramatically and instantly make you love your lips again!
Great lips are so vital to our aesthetic beauty and our general well being, (and I believe that sincerely), that plumping lips is one of the most common procedures I perform in our center. And because fillers deliver instant results (like magic) which patients are so happy about, and reflects on my artistic ability (not all doctors can do this well), I just love doing this procedure.
If you want to feel sexier, nothing can give you the feeling more instantly than having your lips plumped…even just a little. So, look at yourself in the mirror and imagine your lips sexy and luscious – they’re only an office visit away. Visit Scripps Ranch Dermatology & Cosmetic Center to learn more.
